Coming to college seems the perfect time to get a new puppy. You're out on your own, your parents can't tell you what to do and there are alot of REALLY cute (cheap) puppies on the side of the road and in the Walmart parking lot!

Choosing the breed that matches your personality and lifestyle is very important. Not many people put much thought into how important it really is. If you like to sit around all day and watch TV, don't get a Lab or a German Shepherd. If you like to go on hikes and run every day, don't get a toy dog. Click on the link above for some helpful tips and hints about choosing the right breed for your personality.

Puppy's don't just cost what the ad in the newspaper says. You might find cute little cheap puppies on the side of the road for $10 and think that you got a deal! But wait... what else do you need for that $10 puppy? Click the link and find out!

Do your roommates like dogs? What about the dog your about to get? What happens if you have to work for 6 hours or be at school for 8? What about those all nighters? Who will let your puppy out? What if you get sick and you can't take care of it?

No one thinks about the vet visits but did you know that puppies need four rounds of shots? The first visit may be free from charge (only the exam fee is waived normally) or you may find a vet that gives a "puppy package" but both of those cost well over $300 in the end.

In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semi human.  The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog.  ~Edward Hoagland
